*The self-driving car company WAYMO is pumping the brakes on its services in Atlanta following an incident in which one of the autonomous vehicles drove into a flooded street and got stuck in downtown Atlanta during a heavy rainstorm on Wednesday. 11 Alive reports that the company suspended rides throughout the city until it could ensure passenger safety. Fortunately, there were no passengers in this vehicle.
*The University of Georgia Athletic Department has announced its largest philanthropic commitment in history, focused on the men’s basketball program. Adam Wexler, founder of the Atlanta-based daily fantasy sports company PrizePicks, pledged a reported $10 million.
*A Chinese national is accused to trying to operate a massive drug operation through the Port of Savannah, the Department of Justice (DOJ) says. The 45-year-old was recently indicted for conspiracy, importation and distribution of controlled substances charges. Prosecutors say he schemed to import more than a ton of dangerous drugs through the port.
