Hall County Jail staff conducting a check of the medical area last Friday found a 24-year-old male inmate lying on the floor of his cell, the sheriff’s office reported Tuesday. He appeared to be unconscious.
“Staff members, including medical personnel, immediately checked his vital signs, which were normal,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J Willlliams said. “They found multiple light scratches and a cut on his forearm, as well as additional light scratches on his stomach. Jail staff requested Hall County Fire Rescue respond to transport the inmate to the hospital for further assessment.”
The inmate has since returned to the jail and is under observation to prevent further attempts at self-harm. The wounds he suffered Friday were superficial and apparently self-inflicted with a piece of plastic.
