Medical debt wiped out

A Georgia native who has built a successful career as a national journalists and broadcaster is using $2.1 million of her own money to pay the medical debts of the “underserved” in the north Gwinnett town where she grew up, according to the AJC. That comes to almost 2,000 people.

Taylor Rooks is host of Amazon’s “NBA Prime Time.”

“I’ve seen firsthand how expensive simply staying healthy can be,” she is quoted as telling the publication. ““My sister has diabetes, so our family understands the ongoing financial weight that can come with medical care, prescriptions, supplies and treatment.”

She says she picked Suwanee because of the role it played in shaping her life.

The money is being donated through the Taylor Rooks Foundation. Foundation — TAYLOR ROOKS
