There’s a scene in the movie “Twister” in which a cow is shown sailing across a road in front of a car as a tornado hits a midwestern farm. Well, it wasn’t a cow but a boat that, well, maybe not flying, probably more like careening into the yard of a North Hall home Thursday.
This Hall County Sheriff’s Office report explains how that happened:
At approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a traffic accident involving a boat and trailer that became separated from the pickup truck towing them in North Hall County.
According to the initial investigation, Blane Oneal Wilder, 22, of Winder, was northbound on Elrod Road in a 2018 Ram 2500 pulling a trailer carrying a boat. The trailer separated from the truck near Stevenson Road. The trailer and boat collided with the embankment of a driveway on the east side of Elrod Road. The boat separated from the trailer and came to rest in a yard.
Deputies cited Wilder for operating a vehicle without adequately securing a load because the ball hitch was smaller than the trailer receiver.
After putting the correct size ball hitch on the truck, Wilder towed the trailer away himself, while a wrecker service recovered the boat. Wilder was not injured in the accident.
