For the second time this year and in the same part of Gainesville, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is reporting the arrests of two people on sex-related charges who were found in a car in a parking lot.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy has charged a Gainesville man with pandering and a Gainesville woman with prostitution after he found the two parked in an empty lot on Purina Drive this week.
The deputy was on patrol just after 5 p.m. Tuesday…when he noticed a Saturn Ion pull into the empty lot. He recognized the vehicle as one he had seen in the lot earlier in the day. The driver of the vehicle, Kathy Thelma Land, 55, was the same person who was driving the car earlier in the day. In the earlier incident, the deputy had arrested a male passenger in the vehicle on an outstanding warrant. This time, Land had a different male passenger in the vehicle, identified as Frank Childers, 58.
During the course of the deputy’s conversation with Land and Childers, he determined Childers had a warrant from Hall County Superior Court Drug Court. Childers was in possession of a crack pipe. The deputy also determined Land had agreed to have sex with Childers in exchange for beer.
When the deputy told Land he was charging her with prostitution, she complained of chest pain and breathing difficulty. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for evaluation. She is not in custody at this time.
Childers was transported to the Hall County Jail for the court warrant and on charges of pandering and possession of drug related objects. When Childers underwent a body scan as part of the intake process at the jail, staff observed an object in his intestines, and Childers admitted he had swallowed two crack rocks when he saw the deputy approach the vehicle in the empty lot. As a result, Childers also was charged with tampering with evidence.”
Childers was still in jail late Thursday morning. He was being held without bond on the Superior Court arrest order.
