Bicyclist escapes serious injury in Atlanta Hwy. accident

A 60-year-old Gainesville man was slightly injured when his bicycle and a car collided on Atlanta Highway Tuesday afternoon, according to a report released by the state patrol Thursday. Troopers say it happened at the Williams Street intersection.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“A Ford Mustang driven by (Ruben Lopez, 16) of Gainesville was traveling east on Williams Street approaching SR 13 (Atlanta Highway).  The bicyclist (Mario Flores) of Gainesville was traveling south on SR 13 (Atlanta Highway) approaching Williams Street. 

The driver of the Mustang failed to yield while attempting to make a left turn onto SR 13 (Atlanta Highway).  The bicyclist struck the front of the Mustang with its front. 

Mr. Flores was transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of minor injuries.”
