UNG teams in the post season

The University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball team made quick work of the opening weekend of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) baseball tournament.

After three victories by a combined 32-4 score, the No. 1 seed Nighthawks will host No. 2 seed Lander in the best-of-three PBC championship series May 8-9 at Bob Stein Stadium in Dahlonega, Georgia. Game 1 of the PBC title series is at 5 p.m. May 8, with Game 2 at 1 p.m. May 9 and Game 3, if necessary, at 5 p.m. May 9.

Meanwhile, the school’s softball team used a late-season surge to earn its 12th consecutive Peach Belt Conference (PBC) regular-season championship. Sweeps of Middle Georgia State and Augusta vaulted the Nighthawks from a game behind Columbus State entering the final two weekends of PBC play to two games clear of the Cougars.

UNG will host the eight-team, single-elimination PBC tournament from May 8-10 at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega, Georgia, in search of its first league tournament title since 2023. The No. 1 seed Nighthawks open the conference tournament against No. 8 seed Flagler at 4 p.m. May 8.

And Both University of North Georgia (UNG) tennis teams have earned berths in the NCAA Division II tournament. It is the women’s ninth consecutive NCAA bid and the men’s seventh in a row.

The women’s team, ranked No. 16 nationally, earned the No. 4 seed in the Southeast Regional and will face No. 5 seed Lenoir-Rhyne in the first round on May 8 in Salisbury, North Carolina. If they advance to the second round, the Nighthawks will face the winner between No. 1 seed Catawba and No. 8 seed Erskine.
