The average price for a gallon of gasoline in both Gainesville and statewide this week is $3.85. That’s 23 cents more for both than it was a week ago, says AAA.
The national average is now $4.44, 27 cents more than last Monday.
Oil prices have surged above $100/barrel as the uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz and the overall situation in the Middle East remains unstable.
AAA notes that gas prices are the highest they’ve been in four years, since late July 2022.
