*Kia Georgia has donated $100,000 to the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Foundation to support workforce development and technical education in the state. The donation was presented at the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership and Rick Perkins Awards banquet in Atlanta. Metro Atlanta.com reports the contribution will help expand access to support services for TCSG students, including the Last Mile Fund.
*The FBI is looking for a man who picked up a rig full of cars from the Port of Brunswick and disappeared. The agency says Alejandro Gonzalez headed into Florida on April 16, but turned around at some point and left the truck in Port Wentworth, Georgia the next day. Both Gonzalez and several cars were missing. Three of the cars have since been located.
*Firefighters are making a little progress on the Pineland Road fire in south Georgia. That blaze has burned around 32,000 acres in Clinch and Echols counties. The Georgia Forestry Commission reports nearly a quarter of the fire is now contained. But there hasn’t been as much luck as the 22,000-acre fire burning in Brantley County, which is only six percent contained.
*A dozen Georgia inmates are facing murder charges in connection in a deadly riot. Four people were killed when several fights broke out, and another 12 were hospitalized at Washington State Prison in January. The state Department of Corrections announced the charges yesterday.
