A Hall County man remained in jail without bond Saturday afternoon following his arrest on charges related to a domestic altercation at his home on Smallwood Road Thursday night.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputies arrived at the residence just after the victim contacted 911. The victim, a 65-year-old woman, was inside the residence. The suspect, identified as Robert Van Posten, 63, had left the scene prior to the arrival of deputies.
The initial investigation determined Posten had been aggressive with the victim, a 65-year-old woman, throughout the day. Posten had first threatened her with a knife, pointing the weapon at her and telling her she was going to die. Just prior to the 911 call, Posten punched and scratched the victim, leaving a cut on her knee. As deputies were talking with the victim Posten called 911, saying he wanted to tell his side of the story. Deputies located Posten on Athens Highway in the area of Gaines Mill Road.
Posten was taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (FVA), battery (FVA) and terroristic threats and acts (FVA).”
