A 43-year-old Gainesville woman remained behind bars with no bond Tuesday morning following her weekend arrest on charges she attacked a teen after he was involved in an incident with his younger sibling. Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested Maria Turcios Galvez-Turcios after she reportedly struck him with an extension cord.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“The incident occurred Sunday…at a residence on Moore Lane in Gainesville.
The 16-year-old male victim called 911 to report a domestic disturbance. Deputies arrived at the residence just after 7:30 p.m. The investigation at the scene determined Galvez-Turcios had become angry at the teen for playing too rough with his 5-year-old brother. The teen had been pushing the younger child in a swing in the yard. He pushed the swing too high and the child hit a tree branch, leaving scrapes on his shin.
Both boys went inside the residence. Galvez-Turcios shouted at the teen, grabbed him and swung at him with the extension cord, striking him in the left shoulder. Deputies observed two raised welts on the teen’s shoulder.
As a result, Galvez-Turcios was charged with child cruelty in the second degree…”
