*Big changes are coming to a part of Lake Sinclair. WMAZ reports a developer is building a new marina with new docks, upgraded fuel pumps and increased access at the site of the former Bass Boat House property. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall. Also included in the $50-million project will be a boat shop, some retail space and a boutique hotel.
*(GBI NEWS RELEASE) – The GBI has arrested and charged Woodrow “Peewee” Wilson Burkhalter, 55, former police chief of Pearson, of with 28 counts of Theft by Taking and 28 counts of Theft by Conversion. His wife was also arrested. The couple is charged with misappropriating more than $30,000 from the Atkinson County Christmas Fund. The GBI says during this time, Burkhalter was designated as one of the managers of the fund and used his access through this role to misappropriate the money.
