Another arrest in Hall Co. cell phone fraud case

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Cameron Keshun Johnson, 27, of Tyrone, was transported from the Atlanta City Jail to the Hall County Jail this week to face charges in a fraud case from last year involving a Hall County business.

During the investigation, which involved a scheme to steal cell phones by the fraudulent use of the company name, HCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) determined Johnson was the driver of a getaway vehicle used when he and a co-conspirator went to the business (Georgia Powder Coating) to retrieve the phones.

On Sept. 25…HCSO deputies had been summoned to the business for a follow up to the investigation and were on scene when Johnson and the other suspect, Brendan Fitzhenry Mundy, 22, of Fayetteville, arrived to pick up the phones. Both men fled the business in a Volkswagen SUV, with Johnson driving. Johnson sped through a parking lot, nearly striking a forklift and a semi-truck. When Johnson turned onto Browns Bridge Road at a high rate of speed, deputies elected to suspend the pursuit given heavy traffic on the roadway.

Warrants were issued for Johnson’s arrest on Dec. 5…after he was identified as a suspect in the case. He was booked at the Hall County Jail Tuesday…on charges of felony identity theft/fraud, felony fleeing/attempting to elude and misdemeanor reckless driving. He posted a bond of $12,700 and was released from custody the same day.”
