HCSO: Pound of pot seized during traffic stop

A Gainesville man remains behind bars after being arrested by a sheriff’s deputy last weekend following a traffic stop for a minor violation. But that turned out to be the least of Brandon Maximiliano Fuentes’ worries because in a report released Thursday, a search of the vehicle turned up a pound of marijuana.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“…Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputy observed Fuentes driving his vehicle while holding his cell phone on Browns Bridge Road. The deputy initiated a traffic stop after Fuentes turned from Browns Bridge onto Pearl Nix Parkway.

The deputy detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, prompting a search of the vehicle for possible open containers. During the course of the search, the deputy located a felony amount of marijuana, and a multiple THC vape pens in the vehicle.

Investigators with HCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrived at the scene to conduct the drug investigation.

Fuentes was charged with the following offenses:

  • Felony possession of marijuana (approximately one pound)
  • Felony possession of Schedule I drug with intent to distribute (33 vape pens)
  • Use of wireless device while driving

The estimated street value of the illegal narcotics is $2,520.

Fuentes is being held without bond.”
