Numerous tips from the public have led to the arrest of Jonathan Lee Jordan.
He was taken into custody about 6:50 p.m. by deputies from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Numerous 9-1-1 callers reported the man was walking on Creasy Patch Road in the Mud Creek community, which is where deputies took him into custody without incident.
4:45 p.m. UPDATE
The individual wanted in connection with Thursday morning’s assault inside a home in the Mud Creek community remains at large.
After more than eight hours of searching by ground and from the air, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has transitioned from an active manhunt to continued patrols in the area and asking for the public’s help.
Evidence located late in the search leads investigators to believe 41-year-old Jonathan Lee Jordan is still in the Mud Creek area.
A warrant charging Jordan with aggravated assault has been obtained and he remains at large at the time of this update.
Deputies are not sure what Jordan may be wearing as some articles have been recovered during the search.
Anyone who sees Jordan should not attempt to contact him but rather dial 9-1-1. He is not believed to be armed, but deputies urge the public to exercise caution.
Thursday morning’s assault is believed to be an isolated incident as Jordan was familiar with the victim.
2 p.m. UPDATE
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office investigators have secured an arrest warrant charging Jonathan Lee Jordan, 41, with aggravated assault.
Jordan remains at large and anyone who sees him should not approach him but rather dial 9-1-1. He is not believed to be armed.
K9 teams are still actively tracking in the area and are being supplemented by aviation resources.
Noon UPDATE
The manhunt in the Mud Creek area is active and ongoing for a man involved in an assault inside a home about 7:45 a.m. today.
Weather conditions are improving so additional resources have been requested to aid in the search.
At this time, we believe the individual is still in the area and our K9’s are tracking at this time.
We will continue to utilize every available tool in our attempts to locate the man.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office personnel conducting manhunt in Mud Creek area
Personnel from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are searching in the Mud Creek community for a man accused of assault inside a home about 7:45 a.m. today (Thursday, March 12, 2026).
The person being sought is a white male with a beard and possibly a white scarf or bandana over his face. He left the home in the 3800 block of Mud Creek Road on foot.
Units from Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and K9 Unit are in the area actively searching for the individual and are being assisted by other agencies.
Residents in the area should keep the doors to their homes, vehicles, and outbuildings locked and report any suspicious activity to 911.”
