Gville man jailed on 16 charges filed by HCSO & GPD

A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Friday following his midweek arrest on 16 mostly traffic-related charges. Both the sheriff’s office and Gainesville Police filed those charges though the two incidents that led to them are unrelated.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon…Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a traffic accident in a parking lot at 1019 Athens Street.

According to the initial investigation, the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup entered the parking lot and struck a parked vehicle. The pickup then continued forward and hit a utility pole guy wire. The driver, identified as Emmanuel Alfaro, 24, of Gainesville, got out of the truck, and ran for a short distance, before a sheriff’s office K9 unit took him into custody.

The collision with the wire knocked over its anchor and brought down some communications lines. No one reported injuries.

Deputies charged Alfaro with obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor). They cited him for DUI, duty upon striking unattended vehicle and duty upon striking a fixture.

The parking lot collision immediately followed traffic incidents involving Alfaro in the city of Gainesville, (resulting the other charges).” They also include DUI as well as other traffic-related charges. He’s also being held for probation violation.

Alfaro is being held without bond.
