Two festivals & an airshow next weekend

The festivals are one of the oldest in the area and one that is, by comparison, relatively new. As for the air show, it’s an old favorite that’s not been around since the pandemic, but it returns with a new theme and at a new time of year.

The old timer is Dahlonega’s Gold Rush Days which will be held Saturday and Sunday. Gold Rush Days Festival – The Official Website of the Famous Dahlonega Gold Rush Days Festival

Saturday is also the date for the Gainesville Chicken Festival It will be held at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. Gainesville Chicken Festival 2023 – Lake Lanier Olympic Park | Explore Gainesville

The old favorite that’s returning is what was known as the Cracker Fly-In, held for years in July at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville. It’s back this year but is now known as the Halloween Fly-In and it, too, is scheduled for Saturday. It’s not an in-the-air air show but a static, one the ground, show which usually features a display of everything from old war birds to homebuilt craft, helicopters and more.
