HCSO: Two arrests made in parking lot for prostitution, pandering

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested two people this week after a patrol deputy determined they were involved in an illegal sexual encounter in a Gainesville parking lot.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“The deputy was on patrol in the area of Purina Drive and East Ridge Road around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday…driving through a large empty lot near the railroad. As the deputy completed his rounds and traveled back to the main road, he noticed a vehicle parked along an access road that had not been there when he entered the area.

As the deputy approached, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Matthew Lewis Baisley, 39, of Gainesville, accelerated quickly and tried to leave the lot. The deputy activated his blue lights and Baisley stopped.

Baisley had a female passenger in the vehicle. The woman gave the deputy a false name at the scene, but she was identified at the Hall County Jail as Laquita Sheree Shields, 42, of Dawsonville. The investigation at the scene determined Baisley had offered to give the woman a ride in exchange for oral sex.

Baisley was charged with pandering. He posted a bond of $1,300 and was released from custody on Thursday. Shields was charged with prostitution and giving false information to police. Shields remains in jail on a probation violation.”
