*A woman is facing charges in the death of her roommate nearly 20 years ago in Fulton County. A grand jury indicted Angel Thompson this week on 80 counts, including murder, concealing a death and fraud. She’s accused of murdering 24-year-old Nicole Alston, who was left dismembered in Troup County in 2007. Investigators say Thompson also stole Alston’s identity to collect benefits and housing assistance.
*South Fulton leaders are trying to prevent any ICE detention centers from ending up in their city. The city council passed a resolution Monday night that will update zoning codes to keep any ICE centers from being built. No tax abatements will be given to any developers who wish to build warehouses for detention centers either. It’s unclear what effect this may really have if the Department of Homeland Security decides to locate a center in South Fulton, although there is no known risk of that happening at this time.
*Jones County is facing a lawsuit from residents who aren’t happy about how zoning amendments passed favor data centers. WGXA reports close to 20 plaintiffs have joined the suit, which claims residents were not properly notified and their participation was limited in the process. The challenge also alleges that health concerns and water impacts weren’t studied.
*Three men have cited by Sandy Springs Police with trespass warnings after climbing one of two buildings known as the King and Queen towers. Police say the trio found a way to reach the rooftop of the Queen tower, a 34-story building next to the King tower, two iconic buildings at I-285. The men reportedly claim they were there to take sunset photos. And while property management initially declined to press criminal charges, WSB-TV is now reporting that they might. All three men were issued criminal trespass warnings. No one was arrested or charged — yet.
