A Barrow County man was trapped in the wreckage of his pickup for a time Tuesday after he lost control and it overturned on Browns Bridge Road, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). Michael Kevin Jones was using his cellphone at the time, the sheriff’s office said.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Mr. Jones was traveling west on Browns Bridge Road near Spainhill Circle when he traveled off the west shoulder of the road, rolling the vehicle…onto its passenger side.
Mr. Jones, age 49, from Auburn, Ga, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire and EMS personnel. He was transported to the hospital for assessment.
The investigation determined Mr. Jones had been driving with his cell phone in his lap and had answered a phone call when the accident occurred. He was charged with using a cellular device while operating a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lane.”
