Members of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) are among the latest targets of scammers in the Gainesville area.
“We have been made aware that individuals are spoofing the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce phone number and contacting local businesses regarding alleged ‘utility bill payments,'” the chamber said in a Thursday Facebook post.
“Please know:
The Greater Hall Chamber does not collect utility payments.
- We will never call and demand immediate payment for utilities and/or any other type of collections.
- We do not request sensitive financial information over unsolicited phone calls.
If you receive a suspicious call appearing to come from our number, do not provide any information.
