HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Rigoberto Vargas Silva-Vargas, 39, of Gainesville, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain lane following a single-vehicle accident (Wednesday afternoon) on South Arbor Drive near Lee Land Road.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputies responded to the scene just after (3:00). A witness who called 911 to report the traffic accident remained at the scene to speak with deputies, telling them he saw the driver exit the crashed vehicle and run from the scene. The witness noted the driver was wearing only one shoe as he fled.
While a K9 team began tracking the driver, another deputy was able to determine the vehicle was registered to Silva-Vargas, who lived a short distance away from the crash site. The deputy also discovered a shoe inside the vehicle.
Silva-Vargas was located in the 2600 block of Marlette Road; he was missing one of his shoes. When he was returned to the scene of accident, he refused to speak with deputies and was arrested.
Silva-Vargas posted a bond of $5,830, and he was released from custody on Thursday…”
