NHHS parking lot incident leads to jailing of 23-yr-old

A 23-year-old man is free on bond following his arrest Friday after a lookout was posted earlier in the week for him as the result of an incident in the parking lot at North Hall High School (NHHS).

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Deputies responded to the report of a hit and run in the parking lot at North Hall High School on Monday, Feb. 9, at approximately 5:40 p.m.

According to preliminary details, the female caller, 54, was sitting in her vehicle in the lot when a pickup truck hit her vehicle while the driver was attempting to pull into the spot next to her. The driver of the truck then pulled out of the spot, picked up a passenger and left the lot. No injuries were reported.

Deputies reviewed school camera footage and identified the suspect driver, his vehicle and tag number. During the investigation, they determined that the suspect, Cristian Contreras, 23, passed pedestrians and parked vehicles at a high speed in the lot as he was fleeing. Deputies obtained warrants for Contreras’s arrest on misdemeanor charges of hit and run and reckless driving.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Contreras’ pickup truck on Friday evening, Feb. 13, at Clarks Bridge Road and Limestone Parkway. They arrested him without incident and transported him to the Hall County Jail. Contreras posted $5,830 bond and was released from jail early Saturday morning…”
