Ga. 211 work almost finished

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is providing an update on the ongoing construction project along State Route 211 in south Hall and Barrow and Gwinnett counties.

GDOT NEWS RELEASE:

“At this time, approximately 80 percent of the project has been completed, with the remaining work dependent on the completion of the bridge and the northbound on- and off-ramp intersection. Several final construction items cannot be completed until those elements are fully finished.

As part of the bridge work, subcontractors are scheduled to return in the coming weeks to complete remaining improvements, including:

  • Installation of the sidewalk and security fence on the opened side of the bridge
  • Application of the polymer overlay on the bridge deck

All remaining work for the current phase of the SR 211 project is expected to be completed by July 16, 2026, weather and unforeseen conditions permitting.

In addition, Phase 2 of the SR 211 project has been awarded and is anticipated to begin construction within the next 6 to 8 months. More details on Phase 2 will be shared with the public as work schedules are finalized.

Georgia DOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists and local residents throughout construction and encourages drivers to continue using caution while traveling through the project area.
