John Wright of Fieldale Farms in Gainesville has been named Secretary of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association. The election occurred Tuesday, the first day of the annual International Poultry and Egg Expo in Atlanta.

Wright, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Fieldale Farms, is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with over twenty years of service in the Georgia Army National Guard.
Wright received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and serves locally as a board member for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Peach State Bank Community Advisory Board, Georgia Mountains YMCA (Former Chair) and Senior Advisory Board for The United Way of Hall County.
Additionally, he serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the Georgia Poultry Federation, Vice Chair of The Georgia Poultry Improvement Association and past chair of the Georgia Tech Research Institute of Food Technology.
