Power disconnect pause; More flight cancellations; Former UGA president dies

(GA. NEWS NETWORK UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE)

*Georgia Power will not disconnect electricity for non-payment of bills for the next few days because of icy conditions in some places. Power outages peaked at 100,000 Sunday, with the potential for more as ice remains in some areas.  (Jackson EMC made a similar pledge Sunday.)

*Flights out of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are still being impacted by the weather. At mid-afternoon Monday, more than 200 flights had been cancelled for the day, but that’s a far cry from Sunday when nearly 1,200 flights were called off because of dangerous conditions caused by the ice storm.

*Michael Adams, University of Georgia president emeritus, died Sunday following a brief illness. He was 77 years old. Adams served as the university’s 21st president from 1997 to 2013. (UGA NEWS RELEASE)
