Hall County recorded a triple-digit increase in first-time applications for unemployment insurance in December.
The state labor department (GDOL) also says claims statewide were up 9,932 over the month to 26,651 in December and down 4,395 over the year.
In Hall County, the increase over November was 111.4% and 26.1% more than last December.
The department did not offer an explanation for the increases.
