Metro Atlanta man learns the hard way where not to take a nap

As the saying goes “There’s a time and a place for everything.” And a 40-year-old Decatur man early Wednesday may have learned the truth in saying after he was arrested in South Hall.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Zakee Bashir Bilal…was arrested…after a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO)…deputy found Mr. Bilal asleep behind the wheel of his stopped vehicle in the left turn lane of HF Reed Industrial Parkway.

Just before 4:45…the…deputy observed a line of three vehicles at a stop light at the left turn lane of HF Reed Parkway at I-985 north. The lead vehicle did not move even when the other vehicles honked their horns.

The deputy approached the lead vehicle and found Mr. Bilal in the driver’s seat with the vehicle in drive. The deputy also detected the odors of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.

After the deputy was able to waken Mr. Bilal, he asked him to provide a driver’s license. Mr. Bilal provided the license, but it was invalid. The deputy then asked Mr. Bilal to exit his vehicle; he complied, but he staggered and was unsteady on his feet when he did so.

The deputy took possession of two pistols Mr. Bilal had on his person. He searched the vehicle and located assorted illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia inside.”
