Hall County voters will be asked this spring to approve an extension of an Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax and okay a bond referendum. Plans for the vote during the Democratic and Republican primaries in May were approved by the board of education Monday night.
If the ESPLOST referendum is approved, the one percent tax would be extended for no more than five years and for the raising of not more than $400,000,000 for additions and repairs to existing educational facilities and new construction.
The bulk of the money raised would go to the Hall County School District (HCSD) with a share also being paid to Gainesville and Buford.
Also on the ballot will be a $100 million bond issue.
