NWS: No end in sight for drought

Though the drought in Georgia and the rest of the southeast showed some improvement in recent weeks, there is no end in sight for the dry conditions, according to the National Weather Service’s (NWS) Winter Drought Outlook. Here’s the Scoop:

  • Recent week-to-week improvements to the drought may not last long, given overall dry conditions lately and not much rain expected through year’s end.
  • The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) is forecasting the drought to persist or expand across most of Georgia.
  • The other winter outlooks from the CPC suggest overall above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation.
As 97.5 Glory FM reported Thursday, drought conditions worsened in northeast Georgia over the past week. Drought worsens in parts of Hall Co., others in NE Ga.
