When Friday rolls around will it be time for your Christmas tree, assuming you have one (or more), to come down? If so (and whenever that occurs) and it’s not an artificial one, Hall County would like to have it.
Hall County residents who need to discard live Christmas trees may do so free of charge until Monday, Jan. 5, as part of the “Bring One for the Chipper” tree recycling program.
“This initiative serves as a way to turn discarded Christmas trees into a great resource for County residents,” Hall County Assistant Solid Waste Superintendent Bobby Purdum said.
Hall County’s 12 compactor sites and recycling center will accept live trees. All trees must be undecorated when dropped off. No artificial trees will be accepted, as all live trees will be recycled into mulch, which is available free of charge to Hall County residents at the Hall County Landfill.
“We also want to remind citizens about those unwanted cardboard boxes they may have collected over the holidays, which can also be recycled at our compactor sites and recycling center,” Purdum said. “There’s no better way to end the holiday season than by doing your part to recycle. It’s important to both our citizens and community.”
Free mulch may be picked up from the Hall County Landfill, located at 1700 Oakbrook Dr. in Gainesville, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
