Talk of possible plea deal surfaces at hearing for Colt Gray

His attorney mentioned the possibility of a plea deal at a hearing in Winder Tuesday on the status of the case against the accused Apalachee High School shooter.

He told the judge that he was awaiting completion of a medical evaluation of Colt Gray and that he expects it to be finished early next year. The results of the exam, he said, could determine if the case goes to trial or if a plea deal could be worked out.

Gray is accused of killing two fellow students and two teachers and wounding several other people during the 2024 incident.

His father, who is accused of furnishing the teenager with the gun used in the shooting, is scheduled to go on trial in February. Because a change of venue was approved, that case will be heard by a jury from Hall County
