*Georgia’s net tax collections during November totaled almost $2.4 billion, for an increase of 0.9%, compared to FY 2025, when net tax collections approached $2.38 billion for the month. Year to date, collections totaled nearly $13.28 billion, for an increase of $262.7 million, or 2.0%, compared to November 2024, when they totaled $13.02 billion.
*Bibb County sheriff’s deputies say a 21-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, and a 12-year-old boy were arrested after a short chase ended in a car crash on Forest Avenue in Macon. They say the boy, who was driving a stolen car, managed to escape after the crash but was later identified. 13WMAZ reports the 21-year-old woman would not comply and had to be tased by officers before being arrested, and the 12-year-old boy in the car had been reported as a runaway.
*A former Middle Georgia House candidate is heading to prison for stealing COVID funds. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Frank Austin was sentenced to five-years, and to pay restitution this week for scamming the government out of two-million-dollars through the paycheck protection program. A Milledgeville woman was also sentenced to three-years as part of the scheme.
