Gainesville’s Doug Collins used a White House Cabinet meeting this week to recap his first year as Veterans’ Affairs Secretary.
Collins, a veteran and former congressman from Georgia’s 9th congressional district, told the president and other cabinet members that the department is “leaner,” putting vets first and “performing better than ever.” He says the backlog of veterans waiting for benefits is down five percent and the backlog of vets’ families waiting for VA health care “is gone.”
You can hear what he said in this video: VA Secretary Doug Collins on X: “Under @POTUS: -VA is leaner, putting Vets first and performing better than ever -The backlog of Vets waiting for @DeptVetAffairs benefits is down 57% -The backlog of Veteran families waiting for VA health care is gone -VA and @DeptofWar are working together to make Vets’ https://t.co/za7DcP9fWW” / X
