UPDATE: FBPD arrests road rage suspect

10:30 P.M. UPDATE (FBPD NEWS RELEASE):

“Flowery Branch Police Officers and Investigators…pursued multiple leads throughout
the day and were able to identify the suspected shooter as Ivan Hernandez, 23, of Norcross,
Georgia. Once probable cause was established, an arrest warrant for Hernandez was obtained.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Flowery Branch Officers located Hernandez driving his vehicle in
the area of the Sterling on the Lake subdivision and initiated a traffic stop. Hernandez was
taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez was transported to the Hall County Detention Center and is facing the following
charges:
 Aggravated Assault
 Terroristic Threats and Acts
 Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes
 Criminal Damage to Property
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming as new
information develops.”

Hernandez was being held without bond as of late Tuesday night.

EARLIER STORY. POSTED 10:00 A.M.:

An incident of road rage involving gunfire is being investigated by Flowery Branch Police. It happened this morning.

“(Officers) responded to the area of Interstate 985 northbound at Exit 12 following reports of a road rage incident involving gunfire,” Lt. Tony Alvarez said. “Initial information indicates that the suspect became angry with the victim’s driving and displayed a firearm.

“The suspect then discharged multiple rounds toward the victim’s vehicle, striking it once. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.”

This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. “The Flowery Branch Police
Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may
have information relevant to the investigation to contact the Flowery Branch
Police Department.”
