As the holiday shopping season gets into full swing, Gainesville Police are paying particular attention to intersections and drivers who block them. Of particular interest is one of the busiest in town.
“Officers have been in the area of Dawsonville Highway strictly enforcing a commonly violated traffic law,” a police department Facebook post reads. “Please be mindful of this while you’re out shopping.”
That crossroads is bordered on all four corners by shopping centers.
Here’s what Georgia law says about obstructing intersections:
“No driver shall enter an intersection unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection to accommodate the vehicle he is operating without obstructing the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians, notwithstanding any traffic-control signal indication to proceed.”
