Flowery Branch: Smoke will be used to test sewer system for leaks

FLOWERY BRANCH FACEBOOK POST:

“Flowery Branch has hired ESG Engineering to conduct smoke testing to identify leaks in the sewer system.  Work will begin next week.   Door tags will be placed at locations 24-48 hours before testing in your area.

HOMEOWNER PREPARATIONS:

Immediately upon receiving notice, please perform the following:

1. Run + 1 gal water in each sink and shower.

2. Pour + 1 gal water into all floor drains.

3. Ensure water is standing in each toilet.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

*ESG Crews will not enter your premises.

*The smoke is white-gray, non-toxic, nearly odorless, non-staining and does not pose a fire hazard.

*Smoke should not enter your home or business unless you have defective plumbing or dry drain traps.  *Follow the instructions above to ensure water is in all drain traps, preventing smoke entry.

*Smoke may escape through vent stacks on your building’s roof, indicating proper plumbing installation.
