Gainesville gas prices rose significantly over the past week – 14 cents a gallon. The average price this week is $2.89 compared to $2.75 last Monday, according to AAA.
The state average, on the other hand, increased six cents to $2.87 a gallon, while the national average declined a penny to $3.07.
Despite the burst of gasoline demand that will occur during this week because of Thanksgiving travel, AAA says, overall demand is low this time of year which helps keep pump prices down. “The national average has seen few fluctuations in 2025 thanks to low crude oil prices and no major storms affecting Gulf Coast refineries,” the weekly report says.
