Hall County Director of Planning and Zoning Beth Garmon has submitted her resignation, effective today, one day after the county commission authorized a public hearing into charges that three planning commissioners held meetings in violation of the state’s Open Meetings law.
Garmon has been a county employee for several years and became planning and zoning director in June 2024. She has not been implicated in the Open Meetings issue.
A news release from the county did not say why she is resigning or what her future plans might be.
“During her time with Hall County, Beth has contributed to several initiatives, including the development of the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code,” Hall County Administrator Zach Propes said. “We are thankful for her service to the Hall County community, and we wish her well in her future endeavors.”
Hall County will begin searching for a new Planning and Zoning director in the coming weeks.
