Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators recently charged a Gainesville man in connection with a child sexual abuse investigation that began late this summer.
HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested Richard Earl Reid, 37, on Tuesday morning at his workplace on Browns Bridge Road. Reid is charged with aggravated child molestation and child molestation. Investigators obtained the arrest warrants the day before the arrest.
According to the preliminary investigation, Reid committed the offenses against the female victim on several occasions between 2020 and 2022. The crimes happened at Reid’s residence. He knew the victim prior to the abuse.
The investigation began when a counselor reported the crimes to deputies on Aug. 15, after the victim disclosed the abuse.
The case remains under investigation. Reid is currently being held without bond in the Hall County Jail.
