Former Governor Nathan Deal has been named to the Mercer University Board of Trustees.
Deal, who graduated from Mercer’s undergraduate and law programs, previously served on the board from 1994 to 1999.
The appointment coincides with the selection of a new university president, Penny Elkins, as current President William Underwood returns to teaching at Mercer’s law program. Federal Judge Marc Treadwell from the U.S. Middle District in Macon was also appointed to the board.
