Gville man arrested in separate theft cases totaling thousands of $$$

A Gainesville man is behind bars following his arrest in connection with two shoplifting cases – one in Flowery Branch and one in Gainesville – in which thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise was reported stolen.

Lt. Tony Alverez of the Flowery Branch Police Department said Wednesday that on May 30, investigators responded to the Stone Bridge Shopping Center regarding a report of theft from a local business.

Upon investigation, according to Alvarez, the officers identified the suspect as Jamarl Weaver, 45.

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

“Investigators determined that Weaver had participated in a
theft involving multiple items valued at more than $600, taken by means of
shoplifting. Flowery Branch Police Investigators secured a warrant on
Weaver for felony shoplifting.

On the same day…the Gwinnett County Police Department
located and placed Weaver into custody without incident on unrelated
charges. Upon (his) release from the Gwinnett County Jail…Weaver was transported to the Hall County Detention Center.”

He was still being held late Thursday morning in lieu of bonds totaling $2,730.

Meanwhile, Gainesville Police have charged Alvarez with shoplifting items from Home Depot on Dawsonville Highway.

“I show multiple cases from May of 2025 where he was the listed offender for shoplifting at Home Depot,” Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook said. “It is suspected he took air compressors from the store.”
