Betty V. Norton, matriarch of the Gainesville real estate Norton family, has died. Norton died Sunday just shy of her 94th birthday, after a brief illness.
As a part of her husband Frank’s residential real estate firm, she became the first female Realtor in Hall County.
Outside of her professional career, her community service over the years included President of the Lanier Study Club, President of Gainesville First United Methodist Women’s Society, Chair of Brenau Alumnae Association, and President of the Junior League where she helped establish the Northeast Georgia Speech and Healing Center.
Before switching professions and becoming a Realtor, Norton, with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Georgia, served as the Hall County School District’s (HCSD) first school psychologist.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 November 18 at Gainesville’s First United Methodist Church with reception to follow at the church.
