*Some flights to Hartsfield-Jackson are now delayed for hours. The problem – TSA staffing during the shutdown. About 300 delayed Saturday plus lots of cancelations. Over 100 cancelations Saturday and another 175 cancelations already Sunday. The longest delay Saturday was over 14 hours. TSA Secretary Sean Duffy warns flight cancelations could reach 20% if the shutdown continues.
*Atlanta protesters demand action from Gov. Kemp. Marching Saturday from the Atlanta History Center to the Governor’s Mansion. The protesters say Kemp should use money from Georgia’s $14.6 billion in reserves to help people who rely on SNAP for food. More than 1.4 million Georgians rely on SNAP – that’s 13% of the state’s population.
*The Professional Association of Georgia Educators has filed a suit against Dublin City Schools claiming Ashley White, an art teacher who was laid off, was wrongfully terminated. Attorney Ellen Schoolar says the group want the district to compensate White for the remainder of her contract, which runs through May. 41NBC reports another laid-off teacher has also filed a lawsuit. The district has not implemented any additional cuts since Phase Two of its deficit reduction plan. A judge in the Laurens County Superior Court will determine whether Dublin City Schools acted within its legal rights.
