First, it was a new chicken and chicks, now the City of Gainesville is adding a Posada to this year’s Jingle Mingle Holiday Kickoff.
“A Posada is a traditional Latin American Christmas celebration that commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem in search of shelter,” according to the Facebook announcement. “Rooted in community and faith, posadas are filled with music, candlelight processions, and joyful singing. Guests typically take part in reenacting the search for lodging, followed by festive gatherings featuring food, piñatas, and holiday treats like tamales and ponche.”
The Posada will take place in Crossroads Plaza during Jingle Mingle November 22, 4:00–8:00, downtown.
“Come be part of this special cultural addition as we celebrate the season with light, love, and community,” the announcement says in closing.
Just a few days ago, came the announcement about the new chicken and chicks that will be a part of the celebration this year.
