A burglary suspect who was arrested over the weekend remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $8,230.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“A man (who identified himself as homeless was) found inside a Dollar General Store in Murrayville (early) Sunday morning (and) has been charged with burglarizing the business.
Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to the location on Thompson Bridge Road after the store manager reported getting a call from an unknown party using the landline inside the store. When deputies arrived around 2:20…they discovered the glass front door of the business was shattered. They located a man, later identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Allen Woods, standing just inside the store entrance. Mr. Woods was detained without incident. During their search of Mr. Woods, deputies located a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine.
HCSO investigators arrived at the scene to review surveillance footage from the store. The video showed Mr. Woods walking along the aisles of the store, tampering with a number of items. At one point, he removed his clothing and then dressed in merchandise from the store. He also ate some snack items from the store.
The damage to the store, including the broken door and store merchandise that had been tampered with, was estimated at just under $1,000.
Mr. Woods…was transported to the Hall County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, possession of methamphetamine and loitering or prowling…”
