The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has become one of only 14 sheriff’s offices in the state to earn accreditation through the Georgia Sheriff’s Association (GSA) Office of Sheriff Accreditation Program (OSAP).
Created in 2024, the program assesses top practices and duties specific to the office of sheriff in Georgia counties and is voluntary.
Sheriff Gerald Couch, accompanied by members of the HCSO team who worked on the
accreditation process, traveled to the GSA conference in Savannah this week to receive the
honor.
“The OSAP accreditation certainly brings an additional layer of credibility to the Hall
County Sheriff’s Office. Those conducting the evaluations took a deep dive into our policies,
procedures and operations, and found excellence and professionalism at all levels,” the sheriff said.
“My hope is that the citizens of Hall County will appreciate the rigorous evaluation our agency underwent to attain accreditation, and that they will feel even more confident in the way we serve the community.”
The accreditation process focused on five critical modules of service: administration,
courthouse, detention, law enforcement and sex offender. The accreditation is valid through
October 2028.
