Movies at Midland, a new outdoor offering for fall on the Midland Greenway near downtown Gainesville is planned Thursday, Oct. 14.
CITY OF GAINESVILLE NEWS RELEASE:
“Join Film Ready Gainesville beneath the stars for a special double feature on the Midland Greenway!” said Morgan Wingler, with Film Ready Gainesville. “We’re getting into the Halloween spirit with a family-friendly favorite, followed by a romantic comedy filmed in Gainesville.”
A showing of family comedy “Hotel Transylvania” (PG), offering laughs and spooky fun for the entire family, is slated for 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., romantic comedy “Blended” (PG-13) — filmed right here in Gainesville — hits the big screen.
Tickets are not required; the event is free and open to the public.
No time to grab snacks? The following vendors will be on site and eager to satisfy your every movie munchie craving:
- Paw Paws Peanuts, offering festival-style snacks
- Johnny’s Pizza, offering pizza and popcorn
- La Michoacana Es Natural, offering popsicles and fruit juices
- Decoy, offering beer and wine

If planning to attend Movies at Midland, find ample (and covered) parking at either the City’s Main Street Parking Deck, 301 Main St. SW.; or Gainesville North Parking Deck, 100 Brenau Ave. NW; then hop aboard the COOLbus (from the Main Street deck only) to the Midland Greenway. Rides via the COOLbus to and from the Main Street entrance of the Main Street deck are free and will be available from 4:30-9:15 p.m. Drop-offs will occur near the Midland Greenway amphitheater on Grove Street. Though available, on-site parking is limited and not guaranteed.
