Two-month investigation leads to $25k worth of cocaine, one arrest

A Gainesville man is being held at the Hall County Jail with no bond following his arrest this week in a drug investigation that began several weeks ago.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“In July of this year, investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) launched an investigation into suspected drug activity at a residence on Shag Bark Trail located just off Poplar Springs Road.

During the course of the two-month investigation, drug agents developed evidence that a male suspect was selling illegal drugs out of the residence. After obtaining a search warrant, SIU investigators conducted a search of the property on Sept. 8. They located and seized 249 grams of cocaine, 95 Alprazolam tablets, digital scales, $1,655 in cash and a 9mm pistol. Investigators estimated the street value of the illegal narcotics at $25,375.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Tavius O’Neal Willis, 43, on the following felony offenses:

·         Trafficking in cocaine

·         Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute

·         Possession of Schedule IV drugs

·         Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Mr. Willis was taken into custody at a location on Atlanta Highway on Tuesday, Sept. 23.”
