A Cornelia woman suffered serious injuries in an assault at a Gainesville residence over the weekend, and deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) have made an arrest in the case. The officers had responded to a house on Westside Drive about 8:15 Sunday morning on a welfare check.
HCSO NARRTIVE:
“Deputies encountered the 24-year-old victim, who indicated her assailant, identified as Alvaro Jacobo-Perez, 32, was inside the house with her infant son. Deputies observed the victim’s face was swollen and bruised.
Deputies conducted a security sweep of the residence and found Jacobo-Perez asleep in a bedroom with his arm over the child. The child was secured, and Jacobo-Perez was detained.
Further investigation determined the victim, who had known the suspect for about two months, had gone to the residence with her child at the invitation of the suspect, arriving around 2 a.m. When the victim entered the bedroom, Jacobo-Perez had a knife in his hand and threatened to kill the victim and her child if she left or attempted to call 911. In addition, the suspect demanded sexual intercourse with the victim, which she refused. Throughout the overnight hours, Jacobo-Perez struck the victim in the face with closed fists multiple times. When the suspect fell asleep, the victim was able to call 911.
The victim was transported to the hospital with suspected facial fractures.
Deputies recovered the knife from the scene. They transported Jacobo-Perez to the Hall County Jail on the following charges:
· Aggravated assault (two felony counts)
· False imprisonment (two felony counts)
· Aggravated battery (felony)
· Terroristic threats and acts (felony)
· Cruelty to children, third degree (misdemeanor)
· Obstruction of 911 call (misdemeanor)
Jacobo-Perez remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.”
